Rose | Multiple meanings

ROSE has two meanings:
It can be a noun or the Past Simple form of an irregular verb. Which one comes to mind first?


The rose is probably the most popular of all ornamental flowers. It can be all colours from white through yellow to dark red.

     

 

It usually has sharp thorns.

Its fruit is called rose hip.  

The rose symbolizes love and aristocracy and has inspired countless painters, poets and writers.


Rose is the Past Simple form of the verb rise: rise, rose, risen.

It means went up.
The sun rose at 6 am.
The balloons rose higher and higher.

Prices rose by 3%.
